ALONSO, LMHC INTERN

Meet

MASTERS LEVEL INTERN

Hello! I’m Brandon Alonso, a Master’s Level Clinical Mental Health Intern en route to licensure. As a LatinX Bronx native, my passion lies in dismantling stigma surrounding mental health and therapy, particularly for individuals from diverse and underserved communities. I firmly believe that representation and education are powerful tools for bridging the gap.

about Me

With a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Minor in Health Studies, I integrate my knowledge and lived experiences into my practice, fostering a space where clients feel safe, heard, valued, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I am committed to working with adolescents, adults, and individuals from all walks of life, with a special focus on those from diverse backgrounds and individuals impacted by the criminal justice system.

I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel supported as they navigate life’s challenges. Whether you are seeking healing from past trauma, struggling with anxiety and depression, or working through the impacts of systemic injustice, I am here to walk alongside you on your journey toward growth and resilience.

  • My Therapeutic Approach

I take a holistic and integrative therapeutic approach, drawing from:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Identifying and reframing negative thought patterns

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Emotional regulation & distress tolerance

Mindfulness-Based Interventions – Cultivating self-awareness and reducing stress

Person-Centered Therapy – Empowering clients through self-exploration and growth

I believe that therapy should be a collaborative journey, where you are met with compassion, cultural humility, and non-judgmental support. Whether you are facing mental health challenges, seeking personal growth, or simply need someone to listen, I am here to support you.

    Therapeutic Services:

Anxiety and Depression Management: Providing strategies to cope with and overcome emotional challenges.

Youth Counseling: Addressing issues specific to children and adolescents, fostering healthy development.

  • Why Representation Matters

At my core, I believe therapy is a radical act of self-care and self-liberation, particularly for individuals who have historically been excluded from mental health spaces. I am passionate about bridging the gap between communities and mental health care through representation, education, and advocacy—ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has access to compassionate and culturally responsive support.

Mental health care should reflect and respect the diverse identities, cultures, and experiences of all individuals. As a LatinX mental health professional, I strive to create a space of cultural awareness, inclusivity, and empowerment, ensuring that every client feels seen and understood.

Healing is not just personal—it’s collective. By investing in your mental well-being, you are also creating change within your family, community, and society. You have the power to redefine your story, reclaim your strength, and build a future that aligns with your values and dreams.

You are not alone. Your story matters. Healing & growth is possible.
